Join the most epic naval battle!

Make your mark upon our West Indies saga in "Doomsday"!

Welcome

Peace with Spain was signed in February 1720. In late April its news arrived to the West Indies, so all the Navies got allied against the common foe – pirates, making their trade more difficult to survive. Which side are you on?

Be ye a pirate, a naval officer, a slave or a lady, you will find a place aboard one of our four ships or live on a paradise island. Men aboard any ship are strongly recommended as first characters, and civilians as secondary ones. No more female sailors are allowed.

We are not the usual sandboxy RPG, neither a narrative-driven one, but a story-focused writing community where each actively writing character can make a difference and an impact on the overall plot. We are writing collaboratively a coherent story with many sideplots aside of it. We also have guides to help you with the time setting, and are more influenced by historical events rather than following them by the history books!

Indeed, Wesley had read the young man's file. He seemed to be genuine, and the story matched with what he knew. If he had indeed a pirate cousin, and he did know nothing about it... could he be accused of anything? What was the gunner's mate's fault if that man, his alleged cousin - a thing which might have been true or not, but the lad believed it - had been once a merchant and after burying his business somehow, he had fallen out with law and turned to piracy, keeping the secret? It had happened in any country, he had heard about similar stories.

Now, Wesley had been informed about Sol Picador, but nobody had recognized his crewmates on names and he had no idea that the subject of the present discussion was nobody else than Sebastien Durand, son of Le Chacal and brother to the pirate woman who had been sent to her own country's authorities to be judged and hanged there. He was as oblivious about this as anyone else.

"Your cousin is a pirate in Sol Picador's crew, if you haven't known until now. You can wipe your shame of having helped a pirate only by returning to the job of an able seaman. Besides, as Mr. Bloodworth has just resigned for personal reasons, the new master gunner will choose his own mate."

He gave the news briefly and at object, without dabbling into details or accusing him of things he wasn't sure they were true. Captain Wesley Stewart tried his best to be fair... but this was damn taxing.

"You are dismissed. Please send the boatswain to me as you get out and moving back from the gunnery before the mast."

It was also fair that he was the one to inform the boatswain about the change, not the demoted sailor.

Nathanial hoped not to hear anything like what he was hearing. He feigned being shocked... Well, he succeeded, as he was indeed shocked how the hell his captain had learnt so quickly about the pirates' disguise. He hoped they were safely away already. Sebastien shouldn't please captain Stewart and get caught, neither any other of his crew!

"I could never have thought about this, Sir! Are you sure?" he managed to ask, feigning well disbelief.

The captain was damn sure, given that he had just been demoted for this. And the master gunner... resigning for personal reasons? This was transparent enough, since he had been seen talking to Sol Picador...

"As you wish, Sir."

He was definitely not going to protest, neither to openly disobey. He hated returning to common sailor after he had learnt the gunnery secrets and he had thought he had found his vocation. But what could he do else than obey and accept the punishment.

"I'll tell him right away, Sir."

Dismissed. At least he could take a deep breath and go somewhere else pretending he didn't care he had just been demoted. It stung hard...

- THE END -
