Botswain aboard the Rising SunCurrent Location:
Aboard the Rising SunCharacter PB:
Paul Bettany, Master and CommanderGeneral appearance:
Aimhirghim stands at a reasonable height with blue eyes and brown hair. These eyes can be piercing at times, unsettling to some after they face one of his long stares. His body is of an average build and, while considerably strong, he does not have a highly defined musculature. His body is largely unscarred although he has endured injury in the past. Clothing:
Aimhirghim attempts to maintain a casual, yet respectable appearance. On his head he will sometimes don a tricorn of a surprisingly fine make, this particular hat has been in his possession since he left home. His chest is usually clad in a loose, flowing while shirt, over which he wears a brown tunic and sometimes a coat. He usually sports a white neckerchief which, although it isn't that practical, he sees as an ornament to increase the appeal of his outfit. His legs are clad in knee length breeches, and his feet in leather boots. Personality:
Aimhirghim is characterized primarily by his passion and drive. While he may not always show it on the surface, when he cares about a goal he will strive to accomplish it with all his might. Despite this he does not appear brash or belligerent, but will instead attempt to appear calm and collected in situations where he actually cares deeply. This is not to say that he feels this drive in all of his exploits, he has no long term goals of becoming a legendary pirate nor does he gain satisfaction from triumph in martial activities.
He likes to give off an impression of confidence and nonchalance but will at times crack and reveal the intensity which he attempts to hide. In saying this, he is usually calm and jovial, but will attempt to continue broadcasting these emotions even when he is not. He is not the sort to loudly announce his goals, and will only reveal them to those that he truly trusts. When he controls his passions he is able to create an atmosphere of joviality. Given this, he usually keeps control of his anger but when a deep desire of his is threatened he is easily provoked.
Despite his lack of long term goals in piracy, Aimhirghim does get a thrill out of the swashbuckling life of a pirate. This does not extend to wanton bravado though, he is likely to think carefully before rushing into a fight unless something he deeply cares about is threatened. Because of this he may come off as a coward as he carefully plans his next move. He also does not drink alcohol, due to watching violent drunkards roam the streets of Waterford, this has led to his nickname 'priesty' and is something which would make it hard for him to fit in in a tavern. When insulted personally he will not rise rigorously to defend himself, but will usually keep his cool and try and laugh it off. His time in Ireland gave him fluency in English and Irish, and he can speak a smattering of French and Welsh as well.
Aimhirghim enjoys maintaining large networks of friend, but will form special attachments to certain people whom he will passionately stand up for. This is also a weakness for him, as these attachments will occasionally keep him from acting in a pragmatic manner. When he witnesses injustice in general he will not spontaneously jump in in an attempt to solve the issue and will only intervene in such situations where it is needed or possible. This again may lead to him being seen as a coward.Birth place:

Aimhirghin was born to a fairly wealthy family in Waterford, Ireland but being the second son he was always aware of the fact that his prospects for wealth were limited. He had a fairly good relationship with his brother Desmond despite the difference in age and his parents were kind enough to him, providing him with a good education. He was set on a course to serve in the Royal Navy, though he was never keen on the idea it seemed like a good enough career option.
He took to the sea on his first ship at age 12, bound for the colonies. On board he picked up a variety of skills, having already trained in fencing he improved his technique with firearms and his general skills surrounding the maintenance of a ship. During his time in the navy he was engaged in the protection of British trade, facing a fair amount of pirates and foreigners in battle. After two year's service his was appointed midshipman, and at the age of 21 was appointed lieutenant and proved to be a competent officer. Though initially shy, he developed a friendly relationship with his men. This led to him being reprimanded for fraternizing with the crew, a disciplining that he resented.
His career underwent a significant change when he was 24. While on shore leave in Boston, Aimhirghin bumped into Gwen Williams, the daughter of a Welsh immigrant family fallen on hard times. While the affair began as the passing adventure of a naval officer, Aimhirghin eventually developed a powerful attachment to her. One night he confessed his love for her and both were immediately joined in a melody of shared emotion. On the spur of the moment it was decided that he would desert and they would elope, running away to Philadelphia together. They did not consider the financial consequences of their action in the slightest.
During the year he spent on land with her he discovered that his time spent in the navy had given him few skills that were transferable to a non-military career. The two were never officially married, and Aimhirghin's saving's were not enough to support them. Moving from odd job to odd job Aimhirghin eventually realized that he could not make a living for himself on land, he could not, of course, rejoin the royal navy. One day he posed the question to Gwen, who suggested he go into piracy. Shocked, he stared at her while in a calm voice she explained to him that he was not fluent in any language besides English or Irish and thus could not very easily join a foreign navy and that piracy was by far the best option for him. Considering these words, he came to see piracy as the best path for him to take.
So Aimhirghin took to the sea once more, plying his trade on various ships before settling in as botswain on the 'Rising Sun' in April of 1720. Hoping to one day have amassed enough wealth to leave the business, he pays visits to Gwen as frequently as he can, to assist him in this she agreed to move to Kingston. Fiercely protective, he has a hard time being apart from her. Yet she seems to have remained attached to him as he remains attached to her, living off a portion of the money that he brings back from piracy and embracing him warmly when he returns to Kingston. Though the sea stretches out to welcome him, Aimhirghin thinks everyday of the port where his love lies.Weapon Skills:
