Join the most epic naval battle!

Make your mark upon our West Indies saga in "Doomsday"!

Peace with Spain was signed in February 1720. In late April its news arrived to the West Indies, so all the Navies got allied against the common foe – pirates, making their trade more difficult to survive. Which side are you on?

Be ye a pirate, a naval officer, a slave or a lady, you will find a place aboard one of our four ships or live on a paradise island. Men aboard any ship are strongly recommended as first characters, and civilians as secondary ones. No more female sailors are allowed.

We are not the usual sandboxy RPG, neither a narrative-driven one, but a story-focused writing community where each actively writing character can make a difference and an impact on the overall plot. We are writing collaboratively a coherent story with many sideplots aside of it. We also have guides to help you with the time setting, and are more influenced by historical events rather than following them by the history books!

Alexandros Perivolakis

French Navy

My Content

Date: 8-th of June 1720
Place: Aboard ”Le Phenix”, sailing to Port de Paix

- continued from here -

It was an entire month or more since he had been given a post here at the French navy. Alexander was lost in his thoughts once more, thinking back on who he was, and what is he going to be. All of his recent actions where due to his commanding officers back at his fatherland, the Tsardom of Russia, who had been establishing a healthy relationship between the slightly misguided in faith French people, and all of the people of Russia.

He, a Greek who had answered the most holy of calls, to serve and protect his Christian Orthodox people, untill they where ready to swoop in and save his motherland from its prison, the 'Eyalet of Yunanistan' as everybody kept on calling it for ages, Greece. A place that to him was the cradle of humanity and true Cristianity. His moral upbringing was now calling him to make a decision.

After his crewmates informed him about the capture of some pirates, Alexander had been reluctant to voice his opinion on what to do with them. Yes, they where people who where good for nothing and only cought space in the world by being a dark stain in God's eyes, but also some of them where enslaved by those vile brigants. Good and faithfull people forced to do their bidding by terror...

He could not be vengefull with all of them, but he could at least interogate their higher authority. Well, if they know at least what authority even is.

The cross hanging in front his neck did not burden him as it did every single time that he made an error, nor was he feeling anything sinister. He was empty of emotion. There was nothing to tell him that in his mind the devil had placed sinfull hatred. His mind was in the correct path.

Alexandros grabed his cross for a moment, took a heavy breath, and after regaining his touch with reality instead of emotion, left his quarters and went outside to speak to anyone about his descision.

Luck was with him, since upon walking for a bit, a young sailor cought his eyes and saluted him. Alexandros smiled at the sailor and told him with an eerily calm voice in perfect French "There is no need to be so formal young man. I am not even from these parts. Tell your commanders that i volunteer to interogate the head of the pirates myself..."

"R... RIGHT AWAY SIR!" The boy stuttered with a terrifyied tone in his voice. Perhaps he had in his mind that something very serious was taking place. But no... Duty is never serious, only just duty. His as well as everybody else's.

Name:   Alexandros Perivolakis

Aliases: Alexis (by his Greek relatives and by the French colleagues), Alexey (by his Russian colleagues), Yunan Aslani (Greek Lion, name given to him during the Great War).

Age and birthday: 36. Born 26-th of January 1684

Gender:   Male

Rank/ Occupation: Lieutenant in the Imperial Russian fleet; assigned as third lieutenant aboard "Le Phenix" based on a training exchange programme

Current Location:   Aboard "Le Phenix"

Character PB:  Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ

General appearance:

Alexander has an average height, with an athletic build. His skin has maintained a slight Mediterranean shade. His brown eyes are always fixed on the eyes of his co talker when he speaks, but during other times, they are wandering around his surroundings, always tracking every aspect of an area.
He has dark brown hair with a slightly big beard, grown while away from the Russian Empire, because there he knew he had to keep himself in the good graces of the czar, known to have ordered cutting the noblemen's beards. Like his younger brother Thanos, Alexandros likes to fix his hair a lot, in order to appear presentable.

Alexandros does not hold a grudge against anyone's command, if he has to follow an officers' dress code, but he does not obey under any reason, at removing things that remind him of home, such as family lockets.

A born and bred soldier (or Navy man), loyal with body and soul in the service of what he has been taught, and what he believes and defines to be just and right. Alexandros always tries to maintain a calm and calculating composure, but sometimes, his more jovial side might come up if the situation he is in becomes festive. He is usually prone to harshly correcting others on what he deems as right, but if the persons he speaks to are not serious, or seem to be clueless on a matter, he lets himself pretend to be cooperative.
Alexandros, being a man of faith, feels that the world he is in is full of inequalities, brought by completely insidious people and their false desires. He has absolutely no sympathy for actively revelrous activities and greedy humans, even if his own grief with what apparently was stolen from him makes him a servile officer. In his life, he aims to help his people and their cause, under any possible means within reason. That does not however negate his own desires deep down in his soul, that somehow are connected with his people.
When it comes to entertainment, his favourite hobbies include drinking, dancing, singing, reciting poetry, and... brawls. But that one is one of the banned habits...
In his life, he admires beauty, mostly artistic, but he would never deny admiring other things.
+ Fluent with Russian, German, Swedish, Turkish languages. Speaks English and French understandably.
+ Uses to read people's goals based on their speeches.
+ Excellent coffee maker.
+ Learns to hide his anger.
 - Fanatically loyal.
- Obsessed with all kinds of arts, ready to spend his last coin on art.
 - Usualy rushes to be the one that makes harsh decisions

Grandfather Emmanouil Perivolakis, teacher. (alive)

spouse – Tatyanna Fedorovna, baroness

Firstborn of his siblings, raised to big aspirations by his family at Aslan Liman, called Pireus by traditional Greeks, Alexandros spent his years growing up, knowing of the honour, that was placed upon his shoulders by his parents since his birth: the burden of keeping his Greek and Christian legacy alive and unsullied.
While he grew and trained, following the steps of his grandfather and eventually, the hidden mystery of his grandfather's benefactors which was the Russian Tsardom itself, he had to share his duty with the rest of his siblings that came to life. Of all of them, his younger brother Thanos, was a constant embarrassment and sometimes, a bitter rival. With Thanos most of all, he shared common discussions and things, but even if he deeply cared for him, his wild character was always the biggest obstacle in their friendship.
After years of hoping and praying to God for the chance to prove himself, the opportunity came one day, with a letter by his grandfather. Apparently, his royal majesty Czar Peter the Great commenced reforming the country, turning the Russian Tsardom into a modernized empire relying on trade and on a strong, professional army and navy. And Alexandros was to be part of this professional navy.
During the years that he spent in the Tsardom, he trained hard enough to be an officer, but nothing trained him for the encounter with his soon to be spouse. After the arrangements where done, he had little time to explain to Tatyanna, that he was actually smitten by her, and did not marry her simply to serve his goals.
During the end of the first decade of 1700, after the death of Charles XII, Sweden still refused to make peace with Russia on Peter's terms. Despite a continued Swedish naval presence and strong patrols to protect the coast since 1715, smal Russian raids took place in 1716 at  Öregrund, while in July 1717 a Russian squadron landed troops to Gotland who raided for supplies. Alexandros, as a young officer, was part of all those raids. War would not end though, and to his surprise, Russia sent a large fleet in July 1719 to the Swedish east coast. There under protection of the Russian battlefleet the Russian galley fleet was split into three groups. The first headed for the coast of Uppland, the second, where he was in, to the vicinity of Stockholm and the last to coast of Södermanland. Together they raided for a month and devastated the towns of Norrtälje, Södertälje, Nyköping and Norrköping and also, almost all buildings in the archipelago of Stockholm were burned.

That, to him, was justified in order to end the war, and spread Orthodoxy to the world. He would have no arguments for what happened then, and would always defend his actions.

Now, following an arrangement between Czar Peter and several other European naval powers, aiming at developing a modern Russian Imperial Navy, he was assigned to serve as a Navy  lieutenant in the service of the French crown for two years. To Alexandros, despite them being a little mistaken in matters of faith, that would make one great step further in order to bring back what was lost. As the French Navy sent him to the West Indies, he is discovering a new part of the world, not only a new way of organising and running a ship.
Weapon Skills:   Alexandros has moderate skills when it comes to guns. He is an expert sword fighter, able to face and incapacitate multiple opponents, due to having learnt several styles, the Russian Army and Navy training being grafted on the lessons that he had learned from his grandfather, a man who had learnt fencing in various corners of Europe.

Anything else:   He might not say it outright, but Alexandros hurts deeply when he seems to scold anyone about his own values, feeling that they where simply misguided.  Theme song - Slava, moy brat
